Digital printing :: Rosso Forte scarves

I’ve been using digital printing for my own the red thread products for some years now and I’m continually inspired by how others are using it to amazing effect. These beautiful cashmere, wool and modal scarves are by Italian designer Franco Armilla for Rosso Forte, Italy and feature moody photos from around the world. In addition to wearing these exquisite creations, they are works of art in themselves and would look perfect on the wall as art pieces.

They’re breathtakingly beautiful, right? So what do you think? would you wear these Rosso Forte scarves, or hang them as art?

INSPIRATION :: Advanced Style

We’re bombarded at every turn with images of gorgeous young things wearing the latest designer clothes, but how often do we stop to look at stylish older women? New Yorker Ari Seth Cohen does exactly that. He’s like The Sartorialist for women of advanced years. How great is that?

He says: I roam the streets of New York looking for the most stylish and creative older folks. Respect your elders and let these ladies and gents teach you a thing or two about living life to the fullest. Advanced Style offers proof from the wise and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age.

Are you inspired? How can we not be? I love that these women have such a great sense of self and style, and that it seems to be an important part of who they are, as well as being key to them living their best life. All this regardless of what society expects or rather, doesn’t expect of women of a ‘certain age’.

Visit the Advanced Style blog to see many, many more inspirational images.

LOVING :: uimi

I blogged about uimi way back in early 2010, when I met Feeona at a trade show and bought one of her lovely Lola wraps. I’m still wearing and loving it two years later. It’s such beautiful quality merino wool that despite lots of wear it still looks new.

At that stage the beautifully textured uimi products were all in a lovely soft neutral colour pallet of almond, charcoal, cream and steel. Since then the uimi range has grown from scraves and wraps to include blankets, cushions and clothes in on trend patterns. And the colours! Lush raspberry, turquoise and ginger sit alongside lime, buttercup and mint.

The solid brights are stunning for simple fine merino wool scarves and children’s wear.

I know I use the word love a lot, but I really do love the uimi range. Are you with me?
